This is the third of several profiles featuring members of the Galfab workforce. This week, the spotlight is on Mike Leon.
What is your current role, when did you start, and what were you doing before?: Shipping/Receiving Supervisor since September 2018. My prior role was Shipping/Receiving Lead. Prior to that I was Inventory/Customer Service supervisor at an HVAC Distribution Center.
Tell us about your family and where you live: I’m married with four daughters- ages 3, 2 and twin baby girls. I live in Knox, but was born and raised in Chicago.
What is your favorite thing about Galfab and your role: My favorite thing about Galfab is the daily challenge. Whether it’s personnel challenges, routine business challenges, continuous improvement challenges or brand new business challenges…there is rarely a cookie-cutter day!
As a millennial, what is the most important element you bring to Galfab: Good, old fashioned hard work ethic.
Because of your youth, do you see any unique challenges in the workforce?: I’ve been told I look young. Sometimes I feel like I have to do a little more to prove myself to people that don’t yet know me. It can be frustrating at times, but I appreciate the motivation.
What do you want to be when you “grow up”?: Happy.
What super power do you wish you had?: I don’t wish for such powers.
What do you do in your spare time?: A lot of diaper changing.
Do you volunteer in your community?: A little political volunteer work during the 2016 election.
